  • Mid to late May 2016 had been characterised by gradual reductions in wet conditions and  prevalence of dry spells. This is likely to affect crop harvests for the March to May season in Sembabule and Nakasongola districts given the fact that there was also a delayed onset of the rains for that season.
  • Limited water supply for crops, livestock and domestic use

Advisories

  • With the emergence of dry spells, watering of planted crops is necessary particularly those which have not yet attained maturity phase . This is the time to utilized harvested
  • Health authorities should reposition necessary resources and essentials  as malarial cases   are expected to increase  with the incursion of dry spells and rainfall recession .
  • The district production departments are advised to guide small scale farmers  on feasible  water harvesting and storage technologies based on available local resources
